Common faults of camshaft include abnormal wear, abnormal noise and fracture. Abnormal wear often occurs before abnormal noise and fracture.
The camshaft is almost at the end of the engine lubrication system, so the lubrication condition is not optimistic. The abnormal wear of camshaft will be caused if the oil supply pressure of oil pump is insufficient due to long service time, or the lubricating oil can not reach the camshaft due to the blockage of the lubricating oil passage, or the tightening moment of the fastening bolt of the bearing cover is too large to allow the lubricating oil to enter the clearance of the camshaft.
Abnormal wear of camshaft will lead to the gap between the camshaft and the bearing seat increase, and the camshaft will have axial displacement when it moves, which will produce abnormal sound. Abnormal wear will also lead to the gap between the driving cam and the hydraulic tappet increases. When the cam and the hydraulic tappet are combined, the impact will occur, resulting in abnormal sound.
